I came to Austin in 1981 not really intending to stay. However, like many of you, I fell in
love with Austin and even married a native Austinite. I worked during the 80's and into
the 90's for area non-profits working mostly in programs serving persons with disabilities,
as well as for the Capital Area Food Bank. I became a part of the Austin community.
I've always loved cars. As long as I can remember, friends and co-workers have come to me
for advice when it was time for them to get a new car. They knew that I read all the major car
magazines and journals, and kept up with the current research. At one point, I owned and
operated a small car detailing business where I learned how to tell from looking at a car
whether it had been in an accident, repainted, or had other flaws that had been covered up.
This has turned out to be a valuable skill to have in my current business.

I decided it was time to try to combine my love of cars, my knowledge of cars and my background helping consumers get services into a business that helped people who needed to buy a car. In 1997, I opened Consumer Advantage Research Service, better known as CARS. I am now in my 2nd decade of assisting clients in purchasing new or pre-owned vehicles. My services are as a consultant, not a broker or dealer. As the name of my business implies, I work for the advantage of the consumer.
Most of my clients are from the Austin area. I have also worked with many people out of the Austin area, including Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and Alpine, as well as folks in Florida, New York, Nevada, Missouri, Louisiana and California. I look where I need to in order to find my clients what they want.
